Runestone Ranch: Building Respite and Restoration for First Responders

Who They Are

Runestone Ranch is a nonprofit organization founded by first responders and their families who know the hidden toll of the job all too well. Co-founders Brian and Anthony, both police officers, and their spouses, Jonalyn and Shelby, lived through the challenges that come with serving others while trying to keep family life together. They saw firsthand how few resources were available when trauma began to take its toll—and decided to build what was missing.

Their mission is simple but powerful: to keep first responders from burning out. Runestone Ranch is a proactive, peer-driven community built to provide real, lasting support before crisis strikes. Through immersive retreats and one-day enrichment courses, they help first responders and their families develop the skills, education, and resilience needed to thrive physically, emotionally, and financially.

Runestone Ranch isn’t just a place—it’s a movement to restore balance, break stigma, and ensure those who protect us always have a safe space to heal, reconnect, and find strength in shared experience.

How Our Paths Crossed

Our team first met Brian and his family during one of our Arched Cabin Build Seminars. As we got to know them and heard about the mission of Runestone Ranch, we were deeply moved by their vision and determination to create a haven for first responders.

Jeremy and Gillian were especially touched—Jeremy spent time as both a volunteer firefighter and a wildland firefighter in New Mexico. Having witnessed firsthand the unbelievable atrocities that come with the line of duty, this mission struck close to home. It was impossible not to feel called to help create a space where first responders could find peace, understanding, and renewal.

We donated a 12×12 Arched Cabin kit for the first phase of construction—just the beginning of what will one day be multiple cabins designed to house first responders in need of rest and respite. Not long after, a dear friend of ours, inspired by the cause and in memory of his brother who was lost in the line of duty, donated a second cabin.

In October, we traveled out to Runestone Ranch to volunteer our time and expertise during the first build phase. The experience was nothing short of transformative. Members of our own community joined us, rolling up their sleeves and working side by side with the incredible Runestone team to help the first cabins take shape.

A Place That Feels Like Healing

There’s something special in the air at Runestone Ranch—it’s like the desert after the rain. The atmosphere is filled with renewal and calm, like being drenched in soul-cleansing, healing waters.

We left feeling nourished in ways we didn’t even know we needed. The Runestone family’s vitality, ambition, and heart are contagious. They instantly make you feel at home, and the land itself seems to whisper wisdom in the wind as you take it all in.

This is just the first of many build phases, and we are honored to be part of the journey. We can’t wait to return and continue helping this incredible mission grow.

If you know a first responder, tell them about Runestone Ranch. They deserve to know there’s a place built just for them—a place of rest, understanding, and healing.

Special Thanks

We’d also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to several incredible organizations and individuals whose generosity, time, and shared purpose helped make this first build phase possible. What began as collaboration quickly turned into friendship—we’re so thankful to have crossed paths with such devoted partners in service.

Lorenzo Uribe and the Athena Financial Team – https://athena911.com
Lorenzo realized that while law enforcement officers receive extensive training on how to help others, they often receive little to no financial education to help themselves and their families. Athena Financial was created to fill that gap, providing trusted financial guidance tailored specifically to those who serve.

Tee It Up for Mental Health – https://www.teeitupgolftournament.com
This incredible organization promotes mental wellness for first responders through their golf tournament, raising funds to support nonprofits like Runestone Ranch that help first responders combat the effects of job-related trauma and stress.

Golden State Lumber – https://www.goldenstatelumber.com/
A huge thank-you to Golden State Lumber for their generous lumber donation that helped make the first build phase at Runestone Ranch possible. Their contribution supplied essential materials and truly demonstrated the power of community support in bringing this mission to life.
